TRANSITIONING
The best advice is to get the best advice, and there is no better resource on transitioning than Mr. Michael Quinn. Following him on LinkedIn is a tremendous free resource and highly recommended.
Get a link to follow Michael on LinkedIn and find his comprehensive and outstanding list of the best programs he knows that support veterans or transitioning service members.
Plus, below Michael’s recommendations, are other recommended transitioning resources that have been found to be helpful and have been shared with our team.

Above, a man in Michigan contemplated taking his own life by jumping off a highway over pass. Thirteen truckers stopped under the bridge to ensure he would be ok. This picture shouts “not on my watch’ – let’s do the same for others.
The Extra Mile
Once transitioned, how does one thrive in the civilian world? Resources related to this question are the topic of this section. This section is not for everyone, but if for you, a variety of topics and skills that aid in thriving post transition are summarized.
Pictured above is Laurence “Larry” Macon, a veteran of the US Army (Airborne). Post Transition, Larry has thrived – consistently being recognized by his peers as one of Top 50 Attorneys in San Antonio, Texas, and is unmatched in the courtroom. If this is not enough, he has also been recognized at least five times by The Guinness Book of World Records for running and has completed over 2,000 marathons lifetime (and counting).
Families
Often the reason why we do what we do. This link has menu of thoughts on thriving as parents, spouses & friends. Not all might be helpful, but hopefully something will (e.g. advice for dads on raising daughters).
Pictured above are Ed and Bonnie, two veterans & terrific people, just beginning their lives together!
Health & Fitness
Taking care of ourselves is not easy, especially with all roles and responsibilities each of us has. This section shares some great perspectives on practical health habits, science based fueling / nutrition and tasty (but healthy) recipes that don’t include the word Kale. Kidding, but actually the recipes are good, but one actualy does include kale.
Pictured is Sid Busch, a veteran who has run over 200 marathons, and in each one Sid honored a fallen hero with a picture pinned on his back and carrying old glory each mile. Sid is what’ s best about this country.
Military Spouses
The roles and responsibilities of military spouses is too numerous to be quantified and too important to ever be adequately described. The following link is an ever growing list of resources to either benefit, support or bring military spouses together. This is one topic where we especially need additional suggestions and resources to share, as there too many out there for us to identify on our own.
Pictured is Deborah Bing, a top sales associate, sign language interpreter, church volunteer, mother of two and military spouse. The ways she blesses others around her cannot properly be described.
VA MOrtgages
Why do it the hard way? For essentially the same rate and fees, Paul helps win contracts, optimizes financing, provides services national lenders typically don’t do, can conduct a fast refinance analysis – all at no cost nor strings attached and usually takes just a few moments of your time. Learn more about the program.
Pictured above is “Round One” of Veteran vs. Squirrel. Veteran Elaine Stueve put sharp spikes on deck railing to deter squirrels, and this little guy contorted himself over the spikes, dangling mid-air, to get a seed or two. Of note, Elaine went on to add other squirrel deterrents, and we are happy to announce she has fully and completely defeated the squirrel.
Finance and Planning
Perplexing. This is the best word for the challenges that often present themselves navigating insurance, benefits, savings and retirement can and other money and financial planning issues. This section offers a variety of topics that have found to be helpful.
Pictured is Jim Roche – USN active duty engineer, who happens to excel at planning. In his free time, he has run multiple 100 mile ultras, including the four hardest races in the country, and has done so in the same year! He’s just a great guy. This picture always makes me laugh.
